Saving tips for Amazon and Flipkart

Simple habits that save more than any single deal. Use them in the big sales and any day.

Before the sale

Most savings are decided before the sale page even opens.

  • Note the price two or three weeks earlyJudge the sale price against what the product sold for recently, not against the MRP on the page. MRP is a legal maximum, and many products never sell at it.Every LootSaathi deal is compared with its own recent prices.
  • Watch for price hikes just before the saleSome prices go up in the days before a sale so the “discount” looks bigger. If the sale price is the same as last month’s normal price, it isn’t a deal.Deals with a pre-sale hike lose points in our Deal Score.
  • Use the card that has this sale’s bank offerThis October it’s SBI cards on Amazon, and Axis Bank or ICICI Bank cards on Flipkart. A family member’s card works too, as long as they make the payment. The Best way to pay calculator works this out for you.
  • Get checkout readySave your address and payment method, and add items to your cart early. Popular sizes and colours go out of stock in the first hour.

During the sale

The listed price is only the starting point.

  • Read the bank offer limit and minimum orderCard offers usually stop at a fixed amount and need a minimum order value. Sometimes combining two items into one order unlocks more discount, and sometimes splitting them does.Type the limit into the calculator to see your real final price.
  • Tap “Apply coupon” on the product pageMany products have a coupon you have to tick before adding to cart. It usually works together with the bank offer.
  • Check exchange value against selling it yourselfExchange offers are easy, but compare the price with what Cashify or a local buyer would pay for your old phone.
  • Read No Cost EMI termsThere can be a processing fee, and GST is charged on the interest part, so No Cost EMI is rarely completely free. Pay in full if you can.
  • Stack your rewardsAmazon Pay balance, Flipkart SuperCoins and your card’s own reward points can all add up on top of the sale price.
  • Set alerts instead of refreshing all dayLightning deals last minutes. An alert saves you from watching the app for hours.LootSaathi’s Telegram sends checked deals as soon as they go live.
  • Check the final checkout pageLook at platform, handling and delivery fees, and who the seller is. A brand warranty matters more than ₹200 off.

Any day, no sale needed

Big sales are not the only time prices drop.

  • Set a target price and waitOnline prices change many times a day. Decide what you want to pay and buy when it gets there.
  • Buy out of seasonAir conditioners are cheaper in winter, and last year’s phone drops right after the new model launches.
  • Consider certified refurbished or open-boxFor electronics, certified refurbished items with a warranty can cost far less than new.
  • Use bank reward portals for gift cardsSome bank reward portals sell Amazon and Flipkart gift cards with extra reward points. Buy one, then shop with it.
